Friends of Michael Grenley (FOMG)

Dear Friends of Michael Grenley - it is with the deepest regret that I must inform you of the passing of Michael Grenley.  We have taken great care to attempt to notify all close friends and family members via direct contact.  Undoubtedly, some of you will have been missed.  Neither Facebook nor a blog is the ideal vehicle for communicating such difficult news.  At the request and on behalf of Missy, we would like to express how grateful we are for the tireless search efforts conducted by friends, colleagues, community, and law enforcement.  We are particularly grateful to the Yavapai County Search and Rescue Team for bringing Michael home.  This will undoubtedly be a long journey of recovery for the Grenley family.  We request your understanding, patience, and privacy as the family grieves.  To that end, we have suspended comments in the Facebook forum.  This site, http://fomgblog.blogspot.com/, is a moderated blog for sharing your support of the family and rememberances of Michael.  Please note that comments will not appear immediately (up to 24 hours) due to moderator pre-screening.  Sincerely, - Mason

  3. I second both your comments and those of Kevin's, Mr. Mason. The amazing effort and care demonstrated by so many is as humbling as it is uplifting.

Missy, and the entire Grenley family, I simply cannot tell you how deeply sorry I am. Michael was one of the most brilliant and beautiful people I have ever had the fortune of meeting. He will be terribly missed by many.

  4. RIP Michael Grenley. You were one smart dude and a great source of knowledge. I didn't know you long, but I figured you'd be cool to work with when you called me, introduced yourself, and said, "I have an idea."

I really wish I'd had a chance to work with you more and been less reserved about stopping in to ask questions. You will be missed. My condolences to the Grenley family.

  6. To the Grenley family. I am so very sorry for your loss. I worked with Michael for many years at AG Communication Systems. He was such a fun loving guy. Words just seem so inadequate to express the sadness I feel. May the comfort of God help you during this difficult time. Sue Vannier

    Dear Melissa, Caden, & Family,
Our hearts and prayers go out to you as you move into the next phase of this terrible time. You have been gracious and brave in sharing your experience over the past few weeks and those of us who are "FOMG" are honored to have been allowed to participate in any little way. Many have said, and we agree that it has been amazing and heartwarming to see the outpouring of support- a light in this dark world. We pray that you can hold onto that light and that you find peace in it. God bless you all. Yours Truly, Emily & Ron Harry

  8. One of my fondest memories of working at CPRS was the one afternoon I spent helping Michael set up computers. And by "helping" I mean we just talked and laughed while he set up the computers. :)

I am more than a little heartbroken by this news. I can't even imagine the loss to his family. I'm so sorry. We love you and we're here if you need anything.

  11. The Lord takes care of me as his sheep;
I will not be without any good thing.
He makes a resting-place for me in the green fields:
He is my guide by the quiet waters.
He gives new life to my soul:
He guides me for paths of justice by love of its name.

I don't have word to express my gratitude. THANKS from the deep of my heart.

    Kindness Regards.

  12. The world has a void in it today because of the loss of Michael's light. Yet, I'm encouraged by the love and care that shined on through his friends and family who showed the same kind of compassion Michael had for all of us.

I'll miss you Mike, and will move forward considering how I can live out in my life the things that made you great!

  15. Missy, Caden and Family,
There's no words to tell you how sorry I feel. All of the Grenley's are like family to me. Michael was a great friend and I will miss him.
I was a lucky man to have known, work with and share some great moments with him. Everyone who knew him knew how intelligent he was, the people close to him knew how compassionate and genuinely kind he was. R.I.P my friend. My world is a better place because I knew you.

  16. So many memories of Grenley, my "big brother from another mother"...not sure where to start. All of the times we took our Jeeps out on trails, and the years we worked at Honeywell together. The time we got pulled over after "testing the suspension" in my Jeep, over a median, for a happy-hour Sonic Boom. How Missy and Michael smiled one day near Stoneman Lake, when Caden's face was dripping with watermelon we had cut open with a machete.
No matter the memory, one thing was always true, Michael's kind-hearted nature always shown through. Thank you for adding so many great memories to my life, and teaching me some cool things along the way.

  17. Michael-- I'll miss you, miss sharing your obsessions and discoveries,
miss your friendship, your humor, and the late-night talks. You were always an excellent friend to me, my best friend--
supportive, honest, kind, loyal, self-deprecating, clowning.. I could never hope to match your wit. We learned alot together, and I learned alot from you. So very glad Michelle & I got to see you & Caden this summer.

    Farewell.

  18. I am John. I worked with Michael and in the process, became quite close to him. He became a dear friend over the half year or so that we interacted mostly on the phone, through e-mail, and occasionally instant messaging. Michael was a genius. He was a kind, caring, and gentle person and was always enthusiastic about work and technology in general. We had many plans unfinished. He was my mentor and teacher. I consider it an honor and a privilege to have known him and to call him a friend. Michael loved many things in this life, but I can say that he loved his Son and his wife the most. It is difficult for me to write this ... but I will never forget Michael Grenley my dear friend.

  20. I just read my email From James A. A mutual friend from Flagstaff AZ where we both met Michael We both attended his marriage to Missy. I am taken aback by how much his passing has effected me. Michael and I had lost touch after I moved my family from Flagstaff to Maine I didn't even know he had a child which made me cry even harder. I regret not keeping in touch with him and hope Missy all the best as she continues without her life partner. I say this because I remember how strong their bond was and was proud to be at their union. Take care Missy and good bye Micheal. Skip Stone
